Defense of Privilege doesn’t sum up whiteness. There’s so much to whiteness. It’s dominance, it’s oppression, it’s hoarding, it’s violent, it’s terrorism, it’s dehumanizing, it’s a class alliance, it’s negation, it’s a delusion, it’s colonization, it’s privilege, it’s so much. But privilege alone, as understood, fails to convey the harm that whiteness does to whites and the fullness of whiteness. Privilege, for some, implies something to share. The goal is to end whiteness, so only whiteness will do. If you prefer the word privilege, keep in mind the primary privilege is whiteness, being white itself, so why not name it? Whiteness isn’t a generic form of privilege. And whiteness has a preference to go unnamed these days. Whiteness also fits with what whites called themselves. Whiteness includes white identity itself — the state of being white. The United States of America, is really the United States of Whiteness. Whiteness comes from the nation-state and it functions like a nation-state. There’s a heavy connection between nation/state/race. So, here’s what’s under this piece — the borders of whiteness need to come down, a regime change is necessary, whiteness must become stateless, and the state has to go. There’s a call for anarchy and antiracism in this piece. Thanks for reading!
