Jim, I really appreciate this story. You made me recall the first few times I met affirming believers. And as I was reading that in your story I flashed to the parables in the Bible. There are several where Jesus “marvels” at the faith of people. In a way, that’s how I’d describe my feelings when I encountered affirming believers and LGBTQ believers too. Usually when Jesus has shock and awe at the faith in the parables he says to the sick that their faith has made them well. In this case, the faith of the affirming believers and the LGBTQ believers made me well.

But really, all of that should be the norm. I’m glad you shared this, it made me think! Love it!
