Gena, you completely lost me at “when white people say all lives matter they mean all lives matter.” That statement is so ahistorical and disconnected from the pattern and practice of white supremacy, whiteness, and cultural theft. White supremacy has used all types of values to assert itself. Christian. Country. Egalitarian. Capitalism. All of them. But even if I want to take that statement of motive and intent as true — it’s meaningless. What’s said, isn’t lived. And once again, impact matters more than intent. So, they miss. Most of all, if Black people say that response to our call is wrong, white people should stop. Again, another miss. It is a fail.
