Good point. Yes, the “not all” talk reminds me of what the philosopher George Yancy says — “At the heart of whiteness is a profound disavowal: I am not that! In other words, whiteness is secured through marking what it is not.” In my own words: Whiteness is a denial. Whiteness is a negation. It is “not.” It’s already “not all.” In some respects, those who say “not all” are actually the whitest of all. “Not all” and “white” make a double negative trying to be positive and make a positive statement. According to the rules of race, that double negative construction is ungrammatical. And until we get justice, we must be sticklers about the rules! 😀. Thanks for your response.
