Good question. I know Black artists did use blackface and perhaps some still do. Some say Tyler Perry does, as an example. I think there’s some complicity there. But I don’t blame those artists for the impressions nonBlack audiences get. I am not calling for “respectability” here. I’m most concerned with nonBlack people who use blackface. I also think that is a function of capitalism, and I’m not a fan of that function. haha. Thanks for reading and responding.
