Hi, Marley, I have been wondering how this will address employment. The Republican playbook could funnel people into industries as low wage employees for companies with a nationwide presence. Those industries could be connected to the programs offered while in prison. Tax incentives are there too for those companies In Grassley’s state, it is 40% of the salary for the hire. But the hiring disparities persist because of racism. The CBO estimates this law will drive people to “safety net” programs which doesn’t make sense for the Republican playbook…unless they don’t plan on letting people out of prison in the fist place. Then, it all makes sense in the playbook.
