Hi R D! The comparison in the piece is a challenging stretch and it was my attempt to unpack Dr. Dyson’s statement. It is head scratching. Certainly, white supremacy has always turned on white people who don’t uphold whiteness. And when that turn ends in death, it can be hard, and pointless, to differentiate. I also think Trump gives his white supporters a Black-like identity — they believe in anti-white racism. I hope that white people who get this treatment from Trump can make an empathetic connection. Not likely.
