Hi, Sandi, thanks for your response. I have a few thoughts. First, I think the feelings you describe are part of the consequence to systemic racism and should be expected. So now, white people may need to work harder in every way to demonstrate they are anti-racist. Many believe because our society is so geared toward white people that white people already have to work harder to be anti-racist. So, work is required. The work is uncomfortable. Second, there are polls that show marginalized groups are more likely to oppose discrimination against others. So, there’s that, and the fact that marginalized people are experts at recognizing safe people by instinct and survival. But most of all, this requires work and relationships. That should be expected; white people may need to work harder and take more initiative with outreach to POCs. Thanks for reading and your honest response!
