Hi, Tim. Well, I think you’ve raised an important question that individuals and societies should ask repeatedly. I’ve been thinking and reading about that very thing recently. I hope you don’t mind if I take a quick stab at it. Some theorists believe it’s impossible for white people to give up whiteness because of the gains that carry over and also because institutions make whiteness. If that’s true, that would mean the power of the government is necessary to unmake whiteness. That is how whiteness came, and that may be how whiteness has to go. Whiteness implies purity and being monoracial, both of which are racist and factually wrong. Whiteness is defined by what it is not; most specifically Blackness. Whiteness is antiBlackness/anti-humanity/anti-facts. So, I think the six-point platform put together by the Movement for Black Lives, if fulfilled, would also unmake whiteness too. Black lives mattering, through the power of the state and institutions, is key. Thanks for your comment. Oh, and I read your profile. I am a gay man and a vegan! Thanks for your support.
