I cannot disagree more about a ‘culture of violence.’ And even if that were the case, we would have to examine why. And the why is racism, segregation, discrimination, public policies, poverty, and underfunding areas. These things matter. They matter so that we can get solutions and stop scapegoating and stereotyping people. Trauma from racism is real. Responses to racism are real. We must deal with the racism. Violent crime dissipates by wealth. And as of 2016, it would take the average Black family 228 years to accumulate the wealth of the average white family in 2016. Close the gaps and the lack. Until then give people slack and try to understand the facts.
