I have to respond to your points separately due to length. The point in the piece is that intent doesn’t trump impact. It seems like whites want to be exonerated based on intent, they want the trump card. Either way, justice requires that you pay for what you did to the cat. And the cat isn’t the best example. A better example would be someone white coming into my space or starting a conversation they have no business starting. In your example, the cat is out of place, and it’s questionable what my role is as the owner of the cat. Is that cat out of place due to my negligence? In reality, it’s whites in my space and being all over the place.
