I hear and feel all of that. We need a deep overhaul. Here’s one thing I find myself thinking about lately, “the Daughters of the Confederacy.” You will have to forgive me because I may write about them in the future. They did a more than effective job of changing the narrative. It’s a narrative that still lives today. They rewrote and screened textbooks among many other efforts, as you know. Perhaps that’s not possible in the reverse. Perhaps that only works for white people in a white supremacist society. But it does show the power of education, eliminating other narratives, stories, statues, laws, holidays, and other memorabilia. I think some of those efforts are necessary for sustained change. In addition to a new constitution that prioritizes human rights and a new way of electing politicians. Overall, I still have hope because I’m still fighting, but I am very much tired.
