I would love to see him go! Especially, if charges are waiting for him that can’t wait. But! I’ve had to consider a second term. My friend asked me if there is an antiracist case to want four more years of Trump. I’m still thinking about that. The courts scare me the most. And there’s so much more. But he may be a necessary evil. It may be time to choose the greater of two evils. Trump is demonstrating that whiteness can work against itself, but the job hasn’t been finished. He may need to thoroughly trash everything because his voters haven’t had enough. If there’s not a collective “never again,” then he didn’t finish his work. If there’s not a rush to change laws, then he didn’t finish his work. If Democrats aren’t determined to stop Republicans, then he didn’t finish his work. These are hard thoughts. It’s not like my vote can make that difference. But I have to prepare myself for the worst and that may mean facing it with open arms. Trump may go down in history as being impeached twice. His double V may be a double I. And I can accept that.
