It’s true, they only saw white men as men. And, being free has never meant being equal. So, even those “founding fathers” who opposed slavery would uphold white supremacy. What this article doesn’t address are the means of rationalization and compartmentalization. Just thinking here, I’d say it was capitalism, religion, and pseudo-science.
