Mmm. I’m with you on the system and the symptom. This piece doesn’t discuss that so much. I would argue that America doesn’t overhaul the system for many reasons, one of which is the ignorance that tries to draw lines between racism, prejudice, bias, and racial hatred. Also the racial hatred is mainstream; the haters are feeding their points to pundits and politicians who create policies and systems. What I’m saying is — Fox News, Trump, the GOP, and Duke are in the same camp. America should condemn them all. The idea that racist individuals are only one type of person continues the system. Individuals make up and operate systems. And unfortunately, there are many Black and brown people pulling the levers to continue the system too. So yes, we need a system overhaul, but the ignorance that tries so hard to differentiate helps to keep it steady.
