Mmm. Well, I didn’t experience homophobia from Graham. Some did. But for me, if he did say 6 or so things that were homophobic in his lifetime that would put him in line with biblical writers. I also write about intersectionality in this piece and the tension among various aspects of identity that are pressed by oppression. Sometimes we have to negotiate. On the right, there are plenty of haters. Westboro Baptist Church was disgusting. Pat Robertson. There are so many. I don’t recall Billy Graham making those statements. His son, Franklin, I don’t care for the same. The case against Graham for complacency with Civil Rights and the push for white evangelical power is clear. White evangelicals of this Graham was the pope create and sustain a lot of hell. His statements indict him on his weak Civil Rights activism and power grabs. However, I see the bulk of his life as positive. Although, his support for Trump and the Republican Party makes a lot questionable.
