No, Glenn, that is an article about slavery and religions. I’m talking about racism. Not just the institution of slavery. Christianity was used in a unique way to further white racism. Yes, racism invented race, and racism was invented, studied, and legislated. Whiteness is central to that. It started it. W.E.B. Du Bois said the ancient world would have laughed at the idea of whiteness. What is also indisputably different about white racism is the great lengths of rationalization that went into white racism. Again, whole fields of study. Race was considered biological. That wasn’t technology, that was bad thinking. And that is a big way white racism is so epically worst than all racism in all time periods.
