Shannon, if I could give the story more than 50 claps, I would. I swear, you can write about a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. On a small level, my best comparisons are male privilege and American/Western privilege. (I don’t have a good name for that second one.) I did not choose either. I am not ashamed of either. But, I must acknowledge them, the harms, and take responsibility. Both can be used for good. They don’t have to be weapons. But, even as a gay man, haha, it would be ridiculous for me to say I’m pro-male in our society and the world. And, as I’ve traveled, I’ve had to do the things you mention here as an American too. Great story, and I’m so glad you write about these issues.
