Sherry Kappel, please allow me to confess I am confused by the term “white feminism.” I don’t expect anyone to teach me so I have much research to do. But, the white part I get, the feminism part I do not. What I see is white women who vote for Trump and liberal Democrats who utilize white women while supporting patriarchy. I understand the need to be specific like with the terms “Black conservative,” “colorism,” and “internalized racism,” but really it’s just white supremacy. I admit, I have an issue with conflating and simplifying concepts but I really don’t get the feminism part. Perhaps this term comes from history. It seems like true feminism should have always been inclusive and intersectional. And with that not being the case, I understand the white part. With the #MeToo movement that is a total white woman takeover. But, in general with politics, what I see is white women supporting Trump and everything he does. So, I just see patriarchy and white supremacy in the end. The prominent role of women doesn’t inherently make it feminist, right? I will do more research, thanks!
