Thank you for this comment. The phrase “use my white privilege” is insulting to me. It really sounds like a bonus reward card, points, a discount code, or coupons. That’s just my opinion. But white privilege is not a donation or a tithe to Black people or people of color. White privilege is still white power from white racism. The unjust gains and unjust advantages shouldn’t be glorified. Its only purpose must be to end its purpose. Use it to lose it. Spend it to save yourself. I also recognize white privilege isn’t necessarily a weapon and it doesn’t have to be weaponized. But I think the point of it being bait has been lost and doesn’t want to be found.
