This deserves attention — “those who belong to groups historically or currently in positions of power…tended to favor free speech”
Wait, I’m no scholar, but weren’t these freedoms put in place to protect against power structures and malicious majorities? Isn’t it odd that those in power tend to favor free speech? Could it be because free speech is being used as a means for them to retain power?
Or, is it that we are talking about two different things?
