This piece comes with plenty of “yeah, buts!” A key part of this piece is the idea that if enough people believe something they can create a system. I believe in prejudice + power. Like many people, I have prejudice, but I don’t have a lot of power. I want to manage my prejudice as much as possible to its most ineffective level when my prejudice is bad. And I also want to rise in power. I believe in this quote: “Power is the ability not just to tell the story of another person, but to make it the definitive story of that person.” — Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. With power, I must be careful with prejudice and it doesn’t hurt to start while I’m working to get power.
