White people aren’t a monolith. They are a majority and the controllers of every sphere of society. As a political entity, that has historically oppressed other groups, they have a responsibility in a unique way based upon power, privilege, and stolen gains. Plus we have surveys about viewpoints by demographics. So, we can say how a demographic feels. There’s no danger to white people as a monolith. Whiteness is afforded individuality. We have to work harder and be clearer about the individuality of marginalized persons. Power is always an important consideration in these conversations. While we are all equal, we aren’t even. So the same language does not always apply across the board. Does that make sense?
