Wow, that sounds like a great piece. I have one in my drafts with a “just admit it” title. I never got to it so I included some thoughts in this piece. (Would you believe I have 190 drafts? They are mostly headlines, several half-completed stories, and some comments too) The term white innocence has been around for decades, but I’m not sure who coined the term. And we seem to focus so much on white supremacy. I’m thinking the innocence gives power and permission to the supremacy. The innocence is a green light and it gaslights. And I see how activists and civil rights leaders exposed the fake innocence and hypocrisy. I think that’s still important. After writing the term so much, I stopped feeling the conflict and the tension in the term and words. Not sure if that’s a good thing, haha. Thanks for reading AND your response!
