Wow. What a mess. I’ve read a few pieces like that on Medium. I was insulted that Medium even suggested them to me. That algorithm needs work. Haha. Well, Marley, you hit all the points! The writer of that messay is missing — history, politics, patterns, data, polls/surveys, and reality. It’s astounding and there’s no excuse. If the writer of that post really wanted to move beyond the politics of blame and shame, she’d support accountability instead of apologies. This is about justice. If someone doesn’t support holistic reparations and an overhaul to all US systems, then they aren’t useful, and they have nothing to say on the subject of racism or to the subjects of racism. Your point about racism, anti-Blackness, and white supremacy are truly everything, because they are everywhere, and in every racialized group. We have to address that, 100%.
