Yeah, the media is a mess with this. We know there are clues in headlines. We know if the suspect is taken alive what that means. We know the clues based on history. But also crime stats aren’t static. What’s true today and becomes the narrative could change over time. What I mean is - we could miss some criminals by assuming. Or, we could miss some vulnerable and victimized demographics by assuming. The assumptions, or prejudice, are very small for me as a person without much power. It’s no big deal if I make these assumptions. I just feel dumb. Ha. But with enough people and power, things can add up. And yes, I blame the racist society too!
