Yes, location is everything. I lived in Atlanta for 2 years. There are several great Black churches there. I lived in New Orleans for 2 years, there a few good ones there. I lived in Texas for 7 years. I actually find more affirming churches in the South perhaps because Southerners are more inclined to religion. The main point I want to convey and I find among some queer Black Christians is that we are not more inclined to homophobia or transphobia, etc. That thought demonizes us. In fact, as expected, white evangelicals are the worst with their practices and politics. However, to your point, second place is nothing to cheer.
